Amp Question

I have two amps but only using one at the moment. Can I connect both at the same time or will that decrease the amount of performance of the one? I have a 1100 Watt KAC amp and a 900 Watt Lightning Amp. The 1100 is for my subs and are connected right now. The other is a 4 channel amp and I obviously wanna connect it to the 6.5's I have. Do I need a fared, or maybe a stronger battery or alternator?
