amp powers on, speakers dont play though?

my friend has 2 orion hp2600's and 2 orion p6.2 component sets. both amps power on, and the 1st amp plays the 1st set of components thats hooked to it. the second amp wont power the speakers though...all we did was switch out the amp, he had an orion 8004 on both component sets. we took 1 set of the rca's and put it to the 1st amp(which powers the speakers) and the other set of rca's to the 2nd amp, which doesnt power the speakers...any reason to why this is happening? they both worked fine off the 8004...

btw only reason he switched was he got an orion d2400 for his 12sx and wanted the other amps to be the same gen of orion amps...

Has he tried connecting the non-working amplifier to the wiring (power, ground, remote on, speaker wires and RCA cables) that's presently connected to the working amplifier?

If the amplifier does not work on the "known to be working" wiring, then the problem is obviously the amplifier, in which case has he checked to make sure the amplifier's fuse is not blown? Is the protection light on?

If the amplifier plays when connected to the other wiring, then you know the problem is either in the output of the headunit or the wiring, etc, and not the amplifier itself.

Yeah, without doing that simple test, there's really not much else to say since we don't know if the problem is the wiring or the amplifier.

Switch the wiring and get back with us, and we'll be better able to help you troubleshoot from there.

ok well my friend just switched the amps, and before it was the 1 amp working and the front speakers, now the rears work with that amp, but not the fronts...

edit: he said he switched the wiring from the 1st amp to the 2nd, and the second to the first. now the rear speakers work with the 1st amp and the front speakers dont work with the second amp. before it was the fronts worked with the 1st amp and the rears didnt work with the 2nd.

confusing post...lol

Okay, so it sounds like the problem is the amplifier and not the wiring (if I'm understanding you correctly, the non-working amplifier continued to not work with the "known to be good" wiring).

Has he checked the fuse on the amplifier?

well he gave me the amps back, and i dont know why, both amps work perfectly. anyways i sold them to another friend so its all good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
