Amp power wire w/o fuse?

So I ordered a fuse holder / fuse from a guy on caco like 3 weeks ago and hes just now shipping them out. So I wont be getting them until Saturday.

I have my amp, my box, and my subs. Im tempted to hook them all up to just listen to it for a day or 2. I would have to pull it all back out anyway since Friday my sound deadener is going in.

Is it OK to hook up an amp power wire to your battery without any sort of fuse or am I just asking for trouble? If its a no go I'll just have to force myself to wait another 2 days.

Ive done it and been fine actually ive had a decent sized battery bank unfused before and i like to fuse everything. It comes down to whether you are confident in your connections or not. I know of people that dont fuse at all because of whatever slight voltage drop they could potentially create. I have also seen pictures of cars burned to the ground ha so just know what your doing before doing so. They arent required, just a safety really

Im confident in my connections, I will tape everything to make sure..

Do the fuses on the amp not help with any sort of short that could cause a fire?

Not if the wire comes loose from the amp or shorts elsewhere. those fuses are to protect the amp circuitry your power wire fuse is to protect the power wire from potentially igniting because of excessive current draw due to a shiort etc.

bro dont tape use heathrink. tape will unwind with heat from my experience . i trust all my connections BUT i still use fuses . you never know what can go wrong
This^^ I reread that you said tape and was like AHH hah. but yea same ive never had a connection fail but always make sure im fused. its not worth losing my car and the equipment in my car which is worth more than the car itself

Assuming your amp has built in fuses I see no issue as long as your connections are SOLID. If your amp requires and external fuse due to not having ones built into the board then I would say sit on your hands.

what if (this happend to me) say you dont have a fuse and you accidently smash your power wire with your seat bracket and your car is all of a sudden full of smoke.... would a fuse stop that from happening? i was like 14 at the time and was scared as shizzz when that happend

^^ added to post above to help explain alil more. But I have many fuses all my batts are in my trunk so I have one fuse close to my alt, 1 right before my batts and 1 fuse to each of my amps. Yes, i may be lossing some voltage due to all the fuses but I cant afford for anything to go wrong. I can afford a $2 fuse I cant afford a new car.

So hooking it up, just temporarily for 10 minutes or so to listen to it, is a nogo?

My car got hit today in a parking lot and damaged my right door and my rear quarter panel... maybe the bass can pop it out. lol
