Amp Power Issues

I have recently been having problems powering up my amp.

I measured the voltage from +12 to Ground on the Amp and it measures a little over 12V.

When the Remote wire is disconnected, I measure that to Ground (on the amp) and I get about 11.1V.

The weird thing is, when I connect the remote wire to the Amp, the voltage drops to between 5-6V both at the remote and at +12.

Even weirder, while the Remote wire is connected and I measure the voltage from there to the actual chassis ground (not the ground wire location on the amp) the amp turns on.

I was thinking that I may not have a proper ground, but if that was the case, I wouldn't get 12V when measuring the Power & Ground at the Amp, right? Plus I used the Ohmmeter and measured the resistance from the Amp ground to the Chassis ground location and sure enough, it's 0.

After work, I'm gonna clean off all the connectors between the wires and the Amp and see if that helps at all. If that doesn't work, I have no idea what's going on!

The Amp is about 10 years old and I'm using 4 Gauge Power and Ground wires. The remote wire is kind of suspect though...

You guys have any ideas?

I think you may be right. Just got done messing around with it and wired the 12V from the battery to the remote input and I get the same result.

I think it's time for a new amp anyways.
