I find that funny, how can it be 300x2 @ 4ohm and 800x1 @ 4ohm.. Makes no sense, Maybe he got that power out of a second burp before it popped the fuses and at a hard clip. The amp would need to draw about 120 amps of current @ 12.9v to get that number.

Your error is that your estimates for fusing ignores that music is a dynamic signal, rarely reaching max power for extended periods.

Some amp designers take that into account when fusing their amps.

Fuse Opening Time: A fuse does not blow when the current reaches its rated current. It is designed to pass its rated current without opening. A fuse will take varying times to blow under different conditions. A fuse will pass significantly more than its rated current for a very short time. It may take 10 minutes or more to blow a fuse at 25% over its rated current. The table below is an example of the specifications for a slow blow fuse. You can see that a 20 amp fuse may pass 40 amps of current for as long as 5 minutes before blowing although it probably wouldn't take a full 5 minutes to blow. The times for other fuses will be slightly different.

The products I'm designing right now will be underrated. I hardly buy car audio stuff that's out on the market right now because most of it's overrated. I would rather own my design of amplifiers when they are finished.

Yes I know this. I think it's still overrated, because when do you ever rate a amp with music ? Also why would you fuse it at 60a but it can draw 2 times the fuse rating ? It's going to be pooping fuses way more often if your running it at the lowest impedance load and drawing around 120a.

All my zed's stock fusing is for the 4 ohm rating.

In the manual it says to up the fuse if running

at 2 ohms a channel or bridged to 4 ohms. So

60a is about right for 600w. Unless that amp is just

different than my series vii's.

that dude is awesome. I sent an amp to him a month or so back and he called me on a sunday night around 6 pm to tell me he had just finished repairing my amp and that it would be going out the next day

that us acoustics amp has a very highly regulated power supply. as were most of the amps made by steve mantz .. so even if you gave the amp 16 volts, you still would not get "more" power out of it.... it should still just do the rated power it listed at 12.9v....but we all know he did underrate his amps...lol
