Amp Overheating

Kicker ZX3001 w/ 2 Kicker 10" Comp Model #-07TC104

Had problems w/ circuit city. 4th amp replaced in one week.

Running it low right now and has lasted about 5 times longer than all other ones put together.

Just Wondering if anyone knew why it would keep blowing?

AND, should I get a Farad Capacitor to help get the power to the amp, and would that cool it down?

THANKS

On another note.

There was a zx3504 amp for the 4 speakers.

They said they could have wired it wrong between the grounds through each amp to make circuit correct or something like that.

Guy said he fixed that problem, and the wiring looks good, because they went through a 3 hour re-do, to make sure everything is wired correctly.

They had gains set lowest possible, which made it sound like **** stock speakers and like an amp wasnt even there. It was set about .5 and now I bumped it up to about 2 i think

Ill try and post pics later

a fast way to check the ohm load would be to touch an ohm meter (multi meter) to the ends of the wires going to the subs and see what the ohm reading is then see if the amp can support it lol! (does that work?)

So they set the gains with a DMM (I would hope) and you turned it up 4X that. More than likely this is your root problem. Did you add bass boost on the HU or turn on the loud etc after?

We can teach you how to properly set your gains.

The gains are set fine now. I did after after the 2nd amp blew for the zx3001 and when i took it back in, they said that its perfect and they did **** up the settings of the gains and some wiring.

Ill go take some pics and check the ohms

Yes, when first amp blew, they were messin with the bass level and ****ed it up in a minute, so then had to put in 2nd one.

As of right now, im not ****in with the bass cuz i dont want another blown amp lol

sounds like they don't know wtf they were/are doing. did you let them select the setup as well?
