i am new here and i am hoping i could get some help my son bought an amp and some speakers for his car he got 2 of these speakers

alpine swr-1043d

and an amp the brz1200

and we wired them as option 1 for a 2 speaker setup as per the sonic electronix wiring guide

the problem we are having is the amp is over heating he says its so hot you cant touch it we have 12 gauge speaker wire from amp to speakers

and 2 gauge power and ground wires

its mounted in the trunk the amp is screwed to the back of the speaker box

and help would be greatly appreciated on to solving this heat issue

sorry i would post links for the subs and amp for the specs but since i am new i cannot

Thank you

Is the amp "squished" between the sub box and seat or anything?

Whats your electrical like? what amp alternator? any extra batts?

Good grounds? Solid wiring?

I had the same amp, over heated on me at least 2 times a day, considerably more if I drove for a long time. Did the same thing to the guy I sold it to too.

its wired 4 ohm if you go to sonicelectronix website there wiring guide for subs its option 1 for a 2 sub setup with a mono amp

its not squished at all its on the back of the box

It would also be easy to add an equalizer to have individual rca inputs for all of the channels. A decent one can be had for less than $40...
