Amp not outputting enough voltage

There is no large load on an amplifier when no speakers are connected so i can't see how bad wiring could cause it.

DMM method restricts potential output anyways.. But if you insist on doing that method, lol, turn the head unit up to ~30-32.

I doubt you'd need gain on amp past 2 o clock position.

If you do, then start increasing it's bass eq boost thing on the amp..

I had to tune a hifonics one time.. last time i ever wanted to see one.

It could only reach optimal output with the bass eq turned almost all the way up which is something that shouldnt be used at all.

Good to know, thank you...should I use the remote wire or the knob on the amp? I'm wondering if this is a Hifonics thing. But why then would the output voltage decrease once it passes ~23v?

Well.. that part would only make sense to me if the amp had a load on it.. it doesn't.. so i do not know..

At this point, i wish you could measure the signal quality.

I fixed it! Ground was fine, I even ran the ground directly to the battery and the problem persisted.

Evidently, my amp doesn't like my head unit's LPF, or the LPF on the head unit is poor. I turned off the head unit LPF (which was set at 80hz) and set it to 80hz on the amp and it works perfectly!

It would also be easy to add an equalizer to have individual rca inputs for all of the channels. A decent one can be had for less than $40...

I agree with every one above. OFC is much better. Copper is a much better conductor than aluminum.
