Amp needs 17.0v for correct rms.

my amp is 500w rms at 14.4v and 800 at 17.0v. I need 800w rms, how can i get the 17.0v out of my amp?
Umm..you don't.

You have to feed the amp 17.0 volts of DC current for it to output 800w RMS.

Your average vehicle's charging system makes between 13.8 and 14.4vdc.

To give that amp 17 volts would take some major revamping of your charging system as well as most of the other electronics in your ride to be able to accept 17.0vdc without frying like an egg.

Unless you are planning on competing and running all Hard Kore-series MA Audio gear it just isn't worth it.

There are too many ways to get an actual 800w on a regular charging system otherwise.

its an Ma audio hk1000d class x compition series amp. should i sell it and get the hk2000d?
No - we're trying to tell you it would be considerably more economical (and make much more sense) to sell the amp you have now to someone that might actually take advantage of its build properties and buy yourself an amp that makes the power you need it to output when fed on the electrical you have to offer it.

360 each sub, 720 but polk technicians said 800-1000 watts rms, i siad well manual says 500. he said that wrong! he said idc what that says i deal with these every day and run test its 800-1000w rms.
