Amp my speakers?

Should i amp my interior speakers. I don't have components(yet) but i might get some in the future. Right now i have type r 6x9's in the rear and infinity 4x6's in the front. Should i amp them or leave them for the head unit to power. They sound pretty decent on the head unit power but start to distort because of some of the bass at high levels. What do you guys think?
