Amp Mounting.....

Quick (probably simple) Question (that will make me look a fool):

I know amps Shouldn't be mounted upside down, however I have both of mine mounted as such. Now they never get so hot that they shut down but will mounting them upside affect the quality /loudness of their output? or is it just a heat concern??

It's a heat concern. Mounting them upside down will cause the heat to rise back into the amplifier, rather than being carried away by air around the heatsink. Its just not a good idea.

per the Rockford Fosgate Manual:

Mounting the amplifier upside down to the rear deck of the trunk will not provide proper cooling and will

severely affect the performance of the amplifier and is strongly not recommended.

the heat thing really never hit me until a couple weeks or so ago and theyve been mounted that way for the past 8 months, no problems, my question is i guess the truth of the whole 'serverely affect the performance of the amplifier' part.

Makes its sound like if i mount the amp right side up it will make a night and day difference in the quality of the output....

honestyly i dont think i have room to mount them on the floor right side up and i dont thin kits a good i dean to mount them on my pt cruiser shelf right side up for the sun to smoke and thiefs to see...

hmmmmm..
