Amp making high pitched noises...

Zapco Ref 1000.4

It seems whenever the bass notes hit while playing music, the amp itself emits a somewhat loud high pitch squeal. I thought it was from the speaker at first. Any ideas? Could this indicate a problem? The speakers play fine!

So it's basically some electrical

noise, could it be caps charging?

I guess that would be okay.

how loud? the fans in my c2k's vary in speed with the current draw, so that makes sense. but its been a long time since i have been that close to the 1000.4 in my boat to see what its doing. i think it is just a constant speed. i know that my ref dc's were just a constant speed.

Its not super loud, but it is noticeable. Its very high pitched.

Someone over on diyma said the transformer is loose, causing the noise, but IDK.

FYI, I found that there is no fan in the REF 1000.4....

FYI, I found that there is no fan in the REF 1000.4....

its possible that my dealer got me a special one then, because mine 1000.4 does. its possible that it is an outboard accessory though because i remember the special considerations when mounting. it required cutting a cupholder in the boat.
