Amp Keeps Going Into Protect...

Well, about a week ago i was riding around with a friend and my amp went into protect mode. This was the first time it had ever happened. I then restarted the car to get it out of protect mode and then i turned it up again and maybe 30 seconds after i restarted the car, it went back into protect. I then parked the car and went into a store for maybe 20-25 minutes and came back out. I then started up the car and drove around for about an hour or so. During that time i was listening to rock and punk on very low volume. I droped my friend off at his house and on the way home i thought i would try some rap.. Well i did and turned it up and it went back into protect! When i got home i shut off the car and went in the back to see if the amp was hot or something, and it wasnt hot at all... Now all the time when i play rap it goes into protect mode...

My bass on my head unit was craned as high as it could go... Would that be the problem? Also, the amp reote was @ 1/2... Should i turn the amp remote up instead of the bass in the head unit?

It's a Hifonics BX1000D mono amp.

What is going on??

Also, I checked over the wiring, and checked too see if the subs were blown with a voltmeter, and they wern't...

Please help.

Thanks,

Brian

crap... its a 1ohm stable amp..... make sure yer not running it at 1/2 ohm... cuz if yer running 2 subs to yer amp and they are wired to 1ohm a piece... then yer gonna have a problem.... rewire the dual 2 ohm subs to 4 ohm rather than the 1 ohm load that u have... IT IS NOT 1/2 ohm stable... hifonics are only 1 ohm stable...

are you sure that it is going into protection mode or is it just shutting off? also, while your car is running, check your voltage, then turn your music on and check it while the car is still running. see what the voltage drops to.

something very similar happened to my last i had., it would turn off and go into protect mode. me and some professionals checked everything. We checked the wiring, the fuse, the battery, the ground, and we could find nothing. we tested the output of the amplifier with volt testers, and they found out that the amp was fried. I had to buy a new amp. your amp might be fried dude. sorry to say, because your problem sounds the exact same as the one i had. if your amp is underpowered compared to your subs, it coudl cause some overheating due to the amp's inability to power the subs successfully. Therefore your amp is constanetly trying to push out it's maximum output therefore casuing overheating which can burn out a fuse or something inside the amp. that's only if your amp is a lot weaker than your subs.
