amp is making a high pitched sqealing when turned on.

its a soundstream 1700D. whenever i hook it up to any power, whether in my car or on a car battery, the protect light comes on and i hear a very high pitched squealing coming from inside the amp. ive never experienced anything like it and the whole board looks completely fine. can anybody shed some light?

yeah the noise doesnt stop and the amp doesnt go out of protect. speakers are not connected. its just the amp by itself making the noise.

sounds like it has a shorted transformer . ????

it has a definite short in it somewhere for sure to be in protect and making that sound...

dont power it up again.. its toast. you could do more damage to it if the protection doesnt catch it in time.

1- send it back to soundstream to fix

or

2-you take it a television-DVD-CD-stereo repair shop, they may charge you a 100 to fix it.
