Amp is blowing a 5 amp fuse???

I'm getting very frustrated with my car. I have tried to hook my amp up several times now. I have to run both the reciever's red wire and the amp's blue wire to the trucks red ignition wire. This wiring scheme has worked for me before, but now when i do it, it blows a 5 amp fuse in my fuse box... What should I do?

are you sure it's suppose to be a 5 amp fuse? that seems kinda small. mines like a 15 or 20 amp fuse.

Yeah, it isnt an amp fuse its an inline ignition fuse.

But whenever my 12v remoe turn on wire (Blue) is spliced in to my deck's turn on wire(red) and the truck's ignition wire (red) that 5-amper blows. When The Amp's blue wire is not connected the fuse doesn't blow and the deck runs fine. Im getting a little bit tired of replacing this fuse, and not having my sub. Anybody with any suggestions please throw them out there.

yes run the amp direct to battery with the appropriate in-line fuse.

use the blue remote output of the deck into the remote turn on into the amp

It sounds like the blue wire to your amp is shorted somewhere. Disconnect it from the amp, and see if the fuse still blows. If it does, your wire is grounded out somewhere between the head unit and the amp. If it doesn't, then there may be a problem in the amp itself. The most likely explanation is that the wire is shorted; you may have put a screw through it somewhere, or pinched it against metal.

what if you got the correct wiring harness for your car. that would solve most of the problems..
