your buddy is and idiot. 1/0 is good for about 300+amps. 4 gauge is good for about 150amps. you dont want to pull more current then the wire is rated for and if it was a true 2000rms then he is pulling over 200 amps, or just not ginving the correct amount of power to the amps. either way dont skimp on wiring0 gauge is ridiculous ha. If you have legit 4 gauges you should be fine. My buddy ran 2 ARC flatlines that draw 2000 Watts rms each and his 4 channel off of one 4AWG wire and then using a distribution block to hook up both amps
