Amp Install on golf cart. 8.5 volt or 17 volt?

im putting a small system on my electric golf cart. i have the choice of either using one or two batteries which would be 8.5 or 17 volts. would the 17 volts damage the amp? the amp im using is an audioque 4 channel.

Depends on what the amp is capable of. Some amps don't like below 11V or above 15.5V, while other amps are good up to 18V. Should say in the manual, or email AQ.

From what I have seen you need a separate 14v battery that you charge when not in use.
