amp in protect

i was driving the other day and after about ten minutes the amp went into protect

i've had the amp for over a year with no problems and the volume was lower than usual.

i changed the fuses and it worked fine for about one minute then went back into protect

any ideas?

Disconnect the speaker wires from the amp and turn it on. See if it goes into protect.

i did. and yes it still does go into protect

If there is no load on the amp, and its still in protect, amp is broken.

so basically, im screwed and i need to get a new amp correct?

Depending on what the amp is worth to you, or to sell, you could get it fixed.
