Amp HOT! Music not even on! WTF? need opinions/inputs

hmm..

I just want a straight answer that it is normal or whatever lol

cuz I am just worried that my amp is going to crap out on me.. I got no monies to pay for repair..

But I would understand if it is just warm, but it was really hot.. so now I cant imagine what it would be like if I had the music playing.. probably would have set it on fire? lol

Also forgot to add that it never once went into protect either so I guess the amp is thinking it is normal to be like that?

I checked and there is no vent underneath the amp

and the fan is working

I guess it is just normal..

Anyone owns a kicker 2500.1 can chime in here?

I guess I will just call Kicker tomorrow

hmm i see

now i m having second thought about making a false floor where I will put a plexi over the amp..

I plan on putting 2 or 3 fans in the false floor to keep the amp cool, but now since the amp is running hot, i m not sure if it is good idea anymore?

I think everyone has missed the obvious, maybe cliff notes would help.......

He has had this amp for awhile I'm assuming and I'll take it upon myself to say this has never been a problem. He did the Big 3 yesterday and today his amp is getting hot. I think there could be some looming questions here but I wouldn't know where to start.

I am posiitve that I ve done the big 3 correctly.. I will snap a pic later today to show you all what I did..

I am just missing a wire from engine block to battery negative(that was kind of an optional wire so I will just do it when I get more ring terminals since I ran out of them)

My zx2500 does the exact same thing.
Gets hot as shit, but never shuts off or anything.

I've had mine since 2006.

*shrug*

FYI, the zx series amps do not have fans in them. The old kx2500 has a fan.
wow i see, I guess it is this amps that normally runs hot?

one thing that kills me is that why does it have to get hot when music is not even on? lol I dont know why but I just want to baby it ha, I want it cool when I dont have the music on, but I dont mind it if it is that hot when the music is on you know..

and yeah my amp never went into protect, so apparently it is thinking that it is pretty much normal..

I think they should have added some fans, oh well I will deal with it then..

nobody else with 2500.1 chimed in until you did so many thanks for your input, appreciate it..

Now I am gonna run some music back on //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif and hope the amp is just fine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

P.S. I am wondering even if I had the remote turn on wire unhooked, would it still get hot? if not then I am thinking maybe I should make an amp switch up in front so whenever I am not using them I can just have it turned off (and keep the amp cool) until I want to bump, i ll just flip the switch to turn on the amp..

but if it will always be like that even without the remote wire then nevermind.. just an idea

Also, just wanted to make sure that this is normal:

My amp never turns off, it is always on.. the green light is always on.. even if the radio is off.. I thought if I turned the subwoofer control off, it would turn the amp off, but I was wrong? it is always on..

just wanted to make sure that this is normal as well?

Yeah, like "Got Bass 2" asked, does your amp have a remote turn on connection? If so, that should prevent it from being on when the HU is off.

I've also posted a similar thread about my amps (Alpine PDX series) as they run pretty warm too...although they are not the monster you have! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
