No a class AB won't sound better. A good amp is a good amp. It dont matter the class
As for the PPI. I would get its NVX version.

Yes. And much better customer service. PPI is owned by power acustic. They made the Phantom amps good at first than they changed them after they had people hooked. It's not the first time a brand buyout has done that.

I still like the PPI/Soundstream amps especially at the price point. But for the price difference NVX would be my first choice.

mine gets hot but so what until i see any evidence of the internals changing im going to have a hard time believing that
