Amp Help

umm..im not to sure what they are my uncle bought them for me, im kinda new to this stuff. I was just looking for a nice amp that would push the speakers but at the same time i dont need some crazy competetion amp.

It should say right on the box and the subwoofer itself: "dual 2ohm" or "dual 4ohm." If you still can't find it, post the exact model number. It should be SWR-1042D or SWR-1022D, or something similar. We'll be able to help you pick out the perfect amp, but we need to know specifics first like the model number of the subs and what your budget is.

*i meant 2Ω+2Ω*
OK that means you have dual 2 ohm subs. Therefore you will be able to wire both of them up to a 2ohm or 0.5 ohm final load. Look for an amp that can put out 700-1000 watts @ 2ohms, kicker, jbl, mtx, etc all offer amps like this

That means it's a dual 2ohm subwoofer. Since you have a pair of them, you'll need an amp that provides good power with a 2ohm final load, and you will want to wire it as such:

You can also wire it up for a final load of .5ohm, like said above, but I suggest you avoid that right now since there are plenty of amps that can provide you with the power you need at 2ohms. Wiring an amp at .5ohms for daily use requires special attention to your electrical system and an amplifier that can sustain that impedance.

What is your price range?

And before you go any further, though, I suggest you read up on the basics. Check these two sites out:

The 12 Volt

Basic Car Audio Electronics

These two sites alone contain TONS of information, from wiring up your subs to what wire sizes you should use.

Now, I know it seems like a lot of information, and it can look overwhelming. But trust me, it really isn't. It's important for you to know what exactly is going on with your system. That way, you don't install anything improperly and risk a fire, nor do you have to pay some monkey to install your system.

OK thanks. and I dont really have a set price range anything i buy wont be in the next few days. I was just wondering on what i need to be looking for

Well, you will want an amp that can put out around 1000w RMS on a 2ohm load. You have quite a few options, so that's why the budget is important so we can narrow it down for you haha. But I'm going to assume you want to stay in the lower price range, so here's a few amps to keep in mind:

Audiopipe AP15001D

MB Quart DSC1500.1D

Audioque AQ1200D (click the order tab to see pricing)

And my favorite for a situation like this, the Clarion DPX11551 It's a bit pricey, so try to find it used in the classifieds or refurbished.

There are plenty more options, so I'll let other members chime in. These are just the first few that popped into my head that are nicely priced.

Ok thanks..another question all those are 1 channel amps..how to I work to subs up to one channel??

I also posted a picture. Just because it's one channel doesn't mean it's for one speaker. A lot of these monoblock amps also have 2 sets of speaker terminals to help make wiring easier - they are internally bridged.
