ok i have 2 rockford fosgat p1 10's and i had a kicker kx 150.2 amp bridged gain al the wau high pass, and bass boost down and when i trub my cd palyer up and it slams for about 10 seconds then the amp shuts off and turns back on wats wrong? i heard everything rcas are shit.. ur wirings to small and its 1,200 watt wiring, and then this is the most obserd thing ive ever had happen, i bought a ma audio 800 watt 2 channel amp bridged it, turned it way down so i dont blow my subs and i mean my subs were slammin!!! like im talking blowing that hatch off my eclipse and then out of no where bam they stopped, the amp was stilll on so i knew it wasnt a fuse, but it worked for an hour and i noticed that the light on the amp dimmed everytime the subs hit, so im like shit i need a cap, but it still wouldnt work so im thinking i blew my subs took my old kicker amp hooked it up it worked, still shutt off but worked, and while i had the ma amp hooked up, this is the weird thing, when i pushed my sub in like hit it with my hand the light dimmmed, so im thinking the amps got a short in it and when the bass comes in it shorts out while the amps still on and the cd palyers on and the subs arent working i hit the amp to see if it would short out and nothing happened but when i hit the subs the light dims, and the amp still doesnt work and all Fuses are ok, and the amp is getting power wtf is wrong? lol

if i needed help for my grammer id ask for it, im sorry but i wrote this quickly and thanks for taking the time to tell me that i didnt use punctuation instead of helping with my problem....

He did it again.... I found it too hard to read to help... But I'm trying anyway....

Sounds like you either don't have the power to run that amp or you don't have the gains set right.... Did you say you have them all the way up????

ummm ihave the wired speraratly so i no matter what hapens i can always tell if my pos and negs are right, so theres two wires going into the amp for each sub, and the subs are 4 ohm, but is thats y my subs arent working with the ma amp? if thats what your saying y did they work for like 20 minutes?

nooo on the kicker amp i had it on high pass gain all the way up bass boost down and on the ma i had the gain way down the bass boost way down and have it on high pass and low lpf

Yeah first off your amp should not be in HIGH PASS. Sounds like your amp is hitting protect. The wiring may be correct but it may have a bad ground, bad connection on either side of the power lead. Check for bad leads to the speaker.

What is the impedance of each speaker? What load can your amplifiers handle? If you have 4 ohm subs and a 4 ohm mono stable amp, you can not bridge them. You will cook your amp. Never use High Pass on subs - you wont have subs for very long......

Gain is not a volume control - I am sure there is a sticky about this in the amp section - check that out.

Grammar - if folks cant understand what you are saying, they cant help you.

ok, y not use high pass, its only a 150.2 and the subs can handle 300? y would that kill my subs and the amp isnt going into protect...i watched that and i dont think the amp is fryed... almost positive and my wiring is ok i double checked it and check it again and im not sure on either amp.. if never gotten serious about it until now, and the ma manueal is at my buddys house, but the only thing is, it worked for 20-30 minutes fine, y didnt it not work at all?

High pass refers to crossover frequency, it allows high frequencies to "pass" through while "cutting" low frequencies (Bass) You want the Low Pass Filter on set to 80-100Hz. Maybe your confusing Hi-Level input and Low Level input, that refers to the type of connection that carries signal (RCA is low level - speaker input is high level)

Why the amp worked for 20minutes - any amp will handle a 2 ohm mono load. However if it is not designed for that load, it will die and very soon. You need to check the impedance of your speakers, seems like that is the problem (if either amp now no longer works)

the kicker amp works.. my buddy came over and said my rcas are shit.. and told me to buy new ones.. and it says nothing in the manuel on the impendance of my subs, im not a genius when it comes to car audio but i do know a little, like the basics and maybe some intermediate i geuss lol you helped out alot but the only reoson i put it oon high passs is cause its louder, i also got a ported box so the sound quality or the low bass you get from 12's isnt what im going for its the loudness, and how hard it hits. but ill check the ohm load as soon as i can and if its absolutly not my rcas tell me b4 i buy some lol thanks!! a bunch

Per the kicker Manual

http://www.kicker.com/06/tech-support/manuals/manuals/04KX%20150-200-250_2%20Amplifiers.pdf

BRIDGED OPERATION (MONO)

The KX.2 series amplifiers are capable of operating into a

minimum impedance of 4 ohms when in bridged operation.

The P1's come in 4 or 8 ohm - you need to find out which model you have (either check the speaker with a DMM or see if there is a label on the back of the speaker)

RCA's have nothing to do with your problem and what ever "High Pass" you are using you certainly will not have more bass, maybe your turning the "Bass Boost" Per the manual and rationalized thinking:

CROSSOVER SWITCH

NEVER CHANGE THE CROSSOVER “OFF/HI/LOW” SWITCH

SETTING WITH THE AUDIO SYSTEM ON!

The crossover switch located on the end panel next to the

RCA jacks is for setting the internal crossover. In the OFF position

the amplifier passes a full-range signal to the speakers. Use

the LO position when connected to a subwoofer.

The HI position should be selected when connected to

speakers, which you do not want to receive any sub-bass
