WOOO BASS!!
ok the guy i sold my SS-XXX10000D sent this to me in an email today. Now mind you, he received the amp back in october from me in perfect working order. Does anyone have any clue wtf is wrong with it?

Hey jimmy...I tried to test out the SoundStream tonight and some things came up...here's the scenario as i explained it in a forum question...

I then grab one of my 10" Duals (haha) that i use basically for a soccer ball (still in working order) and hook it up to the SoundStream with some 12-gauge speaker wire and clamp the ends into their respective '-' and '+' speaker terminals on the amp. I then take the Pioneer headunit i have for tests such as these and plug in the RCA's into the back of the HU and then into the SoundStream.

I then run a remote wire from the HU to the amp ( with16 gauge power wire), leaving only the power/ground on the HU and amp left.

OK...everything's in check (that im aware of...ive done this many times with other amps and it's worked fine) so I hook the positive 0-gauge from the SoundStream to the positive of the battery...Then I grab the ground of the SoundStream and put it to the negative terminal on the battery and sparks fly like crazy (actual small flames were more like it, they literally landed on the ground and were on fire)...and not the normal spark you see from time to time...this shower was non-stop and much larger than any spark ive seen, it partially melted part of the ring terminal on the ground wire.

So im VERY concerned about the amp itself at this point so i opened the panel on the bottom up and i scanned every millimiter of its circuit board and everything is in ship-shape with no signs of damage or blown resistors or melted connections at all...it's perfectly fine.

So im wondering what went wrong. It is exactly what the setup would be in a car environment but even more controlled with all the pieces right infront of me.

Is it because its such a high-current amp it just started going at it right when it touched? (the headunit was not hooked up so the remote wire would be telling it to turn on...i even tried again with the RCA's and remote wire disconnected and the exact same thing happened, so im just not messing with it right now)

Any insite would be much appreciated

Thanks in advance>>>>>

So im just wondering what went wrong, the amp (to my knowledge) is perfectly fine and nothing blew inside of it and everythings where it should be...but im kind of confused how this test didnt work...any help would be helpful

Thanks,

Doug

so he put the plus wire first, no fuse? and then the ground? he either reversed the ples and fried it, or thats just sparks cuz he ground it with the plus wire already in..although someone buying that amp should know better then that i would think?
