For background purposes, I have 1 12" Alpine Type R D4 bridged to 2ohm run by a Hifonics Brutus BXi 1606D.

Brutus:

Type R:

Okay, so Im driving down the road this morning, and I start to notice the music is sounding like shit, assuming its just a poor burnt CD I didn't think anything of it. A few minutes later the sub cut off completely.

When I got home a few minutes ago, I checked all connections. Everything is good. Amp powers up fine, acts like nothing is wrong.

So, I got the ol' trusty meter out to check everything. Everything is fine from battery to amp, grounds good, fuses are good. The amp powers on, the dumb neons that I still haven't take out power on and everything is taking 11.7-12v (car off)

Now, I am no electrical engineer, nor am I an expert when it comes to the technical or internal aspect of electronics.

When I put the meter to the subwoofer input(s) on the amp it reads between - 0.4 and -0.6

Also the same when I put the meter to the terminal on the back of the enclosure. Any idea what the problem is/ is it fixable?

Let me know, I really don't want to go buy a new amp.

might wanna check your battery, did you happen to have your headlights on this morning? might wanna check your sub wiring... unplug the amp from the sub and then check your load on your sub. pretty sure that amp wont like anything under 1 ohm...

after disconnecting the sub from the amp with the car off the meter reads .9 or 1.0, with the car in accessory it still reads -.2, car on -.3

could it be something loose behind the HU perhaps?

disconnect the sub form the amp and then put the dmm on either lead. if you have the sub's voicecoils paralell, should read just under 2 ohms like 1.7 or 1.9 somewhere in between that..

if it read less, like.. .5 or something you have blown coils. the wire would be melted together giving it a lower dcr

edit: some dmm's have the option of measuring DCR and others have it as OHM
