got a new amp for my car, viper 1200.1...took awhile to hook up cuz the **** terminals are soo small, had to shave down my 4gauge wire just to fit it in...but as soon as i turn the deck on it goes right into protect mode..i checked the fuses on the amp and they are fine....the connection from the battery must be okay as it reads fine on my cheapo voltmeter and powers the leds on the amp, lol....only thing i can think is that maybe its the ground, as i had to shave it down to fit in the terminal, and its on a bolt in the car that i was a bit leery grounding to, but i couldnt find a better spot...ill take a pic of it if necessary

ok, went and got a distro block and proper sized wiring.....same frickin deal...i know(i think) that theres nothing anyone here cna really do for me without looking for it but im always open to suggestions

no...but i know its worked in a different car before...one thought...i have my ground on the bolt that comes up from the shock absorber(on the wheel well) and i was thinking that the shock has rubber on it...so maybe that is canceling it out or something?

Are the RCA's plugged in? If so, unplug them, try again, maybe this amp has a really good protect circuit or something and your RCA's are chassis grounded.... not supposed to be.

Also, just because it's new, don't mean it isn't defective.... could very well be.... How long have you left it turned on? Some amps when you first turn them on go into protect, like a test, and then a few seconds later come out of it.

Or maybe it going into protect because it has no load attached to it, no speaker hooked up... doubt this though

Sounds like you may just have gotten a bad amp or something got shorted while you were installing it and shaving down those wires/terminals.

so it was the ground...and hawt **** it works now:eek: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif
