Amp going into protect mode

I have a memphis audio 16-PR1X1000 AMP 1000 watt @1ohm powering a RE SEX dvc2 sub 600 watts rms. I wired the sub parallel and set the voltage @ 24.4 with a 50 hz @0db tone @ 3/4 volume.When i turn the volume past 3/4 the amp goes into protect mode.Is this normal?

How did you go about setting your gains? Try turning the gain down and then seeing if it will go above 3/4 volume without going into protect. If it works, I'd say that's your problem.

600 watts @3/4 volume the sub is 600 watts rms
