amp getting hot

i have a hifonics bxi2610 and after playing for about 20 min it gets real hot then shuts off and goes into protect and wont come back on for about 5 min? is this normal or what... oh and btw 100 degrees here

I would check each coil on your sub with a DMM.I had a sub go bad on me last week,after banging for 8yrs,throwing my configuration into a .5 ohm,rather than the 2 ohms needed/running.I pulled my subs out ,and checked all of them on that amp,and found one to be bad.Could be your issue as well?Bad coil/coils

Need to find a way to get some air around/under that amp, or some kind of fan on there to try cool it down,if you dont want to move it, or turn it down,about all that can be done that i can think of:crap:

Ive used computer fans on relay and it worked great. You can generally pick them up cheap on ebay.

would i have to build something around the amp then put some fans

check the grounds too... recheck all the wires make sure everything is solid... also check the coils and the terminals on the subs.. I had 2 leads break lastweek on me and was making my amp run warmer than normal
