Amp gets to hot to touch

Hey guys I dont know much about car audio systems, I installed a 2ch sony xplod 1000w amp with 4 gauge cable for ground and positive to power my Powerbass sub. I tapped in the rear speaker with a adjustable LOC. I bridged the sub output. The Amp gets really hot after a few minutes, and if i turn my volume up to high the sub cuts off and i have to lower the volume all the way for it to come back on. Any ideas why my amp gets so hot and why it cuts off?

I dont know what you mean, but i can check if you tell me how //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

no, i have mine bridged, and i don't thin that would be it, u may just have ur gains set to high, that is what makes the amp hot, do u have bass boost on too, what is ur amp and sub?

Thanks , my amp was wired for a 2 ohms, now it is 8 ohms and does heat up as much. But when I raise the volume to high the sub stops hitting and I have to lower the volume for it to start working again, any ideas??

u may have to go with a 2 ohm dvc sub, also u may want to go to walmart and pick up a digital multimeter to set ur gains properly, and google how to set them. its very easy, and the ddm is pretty inexpensive. just so u don't clip
