Amp gets pretty hot.. Is this normal?

i got a zx1500 runnin two cvX 12's at 2 ohm. i got the volume at 31 outta 40 and the bass level 3/4 up. My gain is set half way on the amp but the amp gets pretty warm after wangin.. Does this gain setting sound okay? I dont have anything to do all that fancy measuring but i tried to do it by ear but this is my first system an i dont know how loud it can be before its dangerous for my equipment... help

You can get a DMM "for all that fancy measuring" for $20 or so. I would highly recomend picking one up and setting your gains accordingly. I don't know if that is what might be causing your amp to get hot, but it is a good idea regardless.

Does it shut off, or just get warm?

both my amps get mad hot but dont shut off i think its not properly grounded

Any Amp will run hotter as it draws more current.

So the louder you play it the hotter it will get.

Dont be too alarmed.

It will be a different story if the amp starts to shut down:crap:
