amp, fuse blows every time

i tried a power akoustic 680 watt amp, and every time i hooked it up the 30 amp fuse in the amp blew after about 4 seconds of power going to the amp, any idea whats wrong??

what is the amp's model nuber? What do you have it hooked up to and how is it wired?

well im not sure of the model number, it is around 3 years old its 680 watts its still called power acoustik us , and the only thing i could think of is maybe im using 4 gauge wiring, when the terminal fits 8 gauge and it was hooked up to 2 alpine e's and one jensen 10 liek 600 watts

Is it 1 ohm stable maybe? Ive heard somewhere if it isnt one ohm stable it blows fuses.

2 ohm and the type e's are four ohm not sure about the jensen i tried, but it worked before, i tried it , around a year ago

it's 2 ohm stable in stereo mode... not bridged... do not bridge the amp... just run one type-e to each channel and get rid of the other sub

well i had one jensen it was bridged, then i ran both type e's since its a 2 channel amp, and still blew 2 times

so it blew when you bridged the jensen... it blew when you just had the 2 type-e's?... how did you have the type-e's wired?

um just i guess regular no series or parralel shit, just one set of wires from each sub to each terminal in the amp

well then make sure your 12v wire is on the 12v terminal... make sure you have a good ground and make sure it is on your ground terminal... and if that's fine... then u could have a bad amp

ya i think the amp is bad, i ran 2 amps before with no problems, then this amp tha thappens, but the power wire barely fits in the terminal though the 4 gauge wire barely fits could that be it?

Since your using larger gauge wire, I would check to see if maybe you have excess wire making contat with opposing polarity.

and that means? lol umm well its not touching the remote wire or the ground or any other type of metal, i was gonna try getting what i can in the terminal then cutting the excess off good idea?

time to take out the DMM...start measuring resistances...what he's trying to say is that maybe frayed wiring could be shorting it out.
