ok guys im here to get a couple questions anwsered and some other ppls thounghs on my system.

so i just got me a solo-baric 12L5 its the 2ohm sub.

i thought i had the amp to power it

now keep in mind i only have 1 sub

whats your thoughts on a good amp under 500 bucks?

thanks alot guys! (and any ladies haha)

Sorry to thread jack but can you run an amp that is rated for lets say 500rms at 2 ohms to a sub that is rated for 500rms at 2 ohms? Is it possible to wire it like that? The reason I am wondering is because db-spl didnt mention anything about a 2 ohm amp. Sorry guys just popped into my head

Umm what? Yes?

My Crossfire BMF1000d drove my 12" L5 rather nicely. Too bad I could never learn to like the L5. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

If I understand you right, you're pretty much asking why I didn't mention a 2-Ohm setup (which I did when I said wire the coils to their own channel) is because you cannot wire both coils on a Dual 2-Ohm sub for a final 2-Ohm load. Only 1 or 4.

Ok so its not possible to run a dual 2 ohm sub to a 2 ohm amp at a 2 ohm load? But you can if the sub is a single 2 ohm? is this what you mean?
No, you can. But like I said earlier. Each coil would have to be wired to its own channel on a 2+ Ch. amp that's capable of 2-ohm/channel.. Which most are. Otherwise, No. There is no 'shortcut' or 'bypass' to Ohms Law.

No, it's not possible... A dual 2 ohm woofer would either present a 1 ohm load or a 4 ohm load... you couldn't create a 2 ohm load.

Yes, if the sub were single 2 ohm then it would be wired at 2 ohms to the amp.
