Amp for kicker CVT

I am trying to decide between the kicker ZX400.1 for $130 or The pioneer GM-7300M for $100. I like that the kicker has a bass remote nob, but the pioneer is cheaper. The sub is rated 400/800 (RMS/Peak).

I like some of the Pioneer amps but that one is over rated junk!!

Do you think i should go ahead and get the kicker box that comes with it or should i build my own? Also what kind of wiring kit and what size fuze and stuff will i need. I have no idea about any wiring or anything.

Since you dont know much I would say go ahead and get the sub with the prefab enclosure. As for all the wiring just get the 6ga kit from walmart and you should be good to go

my friend told me today that if i got an amp with 800watts peak and the sub is rated 800 peak then i would blow the sub easy. Is this true? I would get a smaller amp but i want a class D.

No! Does your friend smoke crack?

The peak rating is used for the same reason they put graphics on the box, Marketing.

RMS is the # to look for. If the sub wants 400 watts rms than a 500 watt (rms) amp would work well.

If you need to choose an amp thats lower or higher than the woofers rating, go with a higher wattage amp. If you use a lower wattage amp, it could get hot and run into distortion.
