Amp for a single JL 10w6v2

I going to go with a single JL 10w6v2. Which amp would I get my best bang for my buck out of. I have read a lot about the JBL 600.1. Is there one better for the money? What about Audiobahn? It looks like JL and Alpine are going to be the more expensive amps. Are they worth it? This won't be in any kind of competition and will go in a 95 camaro if that makes a difference.

I was looking to do the same thing, one 12W6v2. I didn't want to spend a ton of money on an amp but I wanted something that wasn't a flee market brand either. I went with MTX, the Thunder 801D. Bought it from CarDomain.com with shipping for about $260. plenty of power and MTX isn't low quality. everyone these days seem to want to spend their life savings on one Jl amp, not worth it. MTX amps are on clearence everywhere, design change, new look for 05. Great deals to be had //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif . You could even go with the 421D if your only going to have the one sub and don't ever plan on upgrading to two subs of that level. I had 1st bought the 421D but took it back and went with the 801D. It's pretty small for as much power it puts out. Go to MTX.com and check it out under the (archives sp?) section. Remember just because you spent alot, doesn't mean you got alot. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Good choice on the sub, I will recommend the mtx 401d if you are sure you'll stay with one sub but I know you will want more bass //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

That said go with the 801d or anything MTX they make solid amps you can't go wrong with them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif

You can still check the Directed and Crossfire amps nice products too.

I'm still thinking on a trio of 10w6v2 with an MTX 1501D //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

The JBL is not a bad amp, and I really don't know if there is a HUGE difference, but then why would you buy an expensive sub to run with a cheap amp.

I think the MTX and the JBL are in the same price range, but I'm not sure, and had no experience with them either.

I just installed a MTX 564 (4 ch) and the 801D (mono sub) amps and they look and sound great no alt whine as I had before with Profile amps. MTX are not cheap $$$$. They are simply less for the 2004 model than the 2005. The 2005 models are mucho $$$$$. I'm the kind of guy that likes to get the most I can for least amount of money without going Cheap on the quality. I've siad before I had Profile amps, that was a mistake for listening to the wrong people who thought because I wanted to spend less $$$ meant I wanted low quality. Way wrong that's why I've got MTX amps now and they are not the entry level amps MTX makes. When your shopping keep in mind what brands are CEA compliant //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif and those that aren't and what level are they with in the brands own models //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif . For instance MTX starts out with entry level Road Thunder and it's mid level Thunder Series and so on. I've got the Thunder Series, very happy with them , they are also under rated. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

What am I saying I have an old school MTX BLUE THUNDER PRO 3002 amp working like a champ! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

w/ a JL w6v2 you'll be able to hear the THD differances in ur amp. Personally i'd go with a memphis 500D if i was u...even though rated at .75%, from personal use i'd say it's lower....simply great amps. hey you could always get a brutus 1000D, and keep the gain down (thus lower THD)
