Amp for a 12w3v3

I just got a new jl w3 and was going to go with either a jl 500/1 or a 300/2. But please give some other suggestions. I was also wondering if you can turn down the 500/1. Thanks

forgot to mention it is 4 ohms and I would like to spend less on the alternative amps. also how do you guys feel about used amps
