i just got a pair of 9512G's. im just going to do a setup for 1. They were ordered from DD as 1.4 but when hooked up they read as dual 2's. My question is should i get a 3k watt amp? or should i just try it out with my Us amps 2000x? this amp is great its just a big power hog in my other car so im looking for a 3k amp that does rated at 1 ohm.

For a single dual 2 ohm 9512, you need a class D amp that'll do around 3kw at 1 ohm. Possibly a RF30001, a Sundown 3000D, etc. As far as what is currently in the classifieds, you could get one of the IA 40.1s, but that might be a bit much power for your electrical (but so is 3kw on a regular electrical). But assuming you have the electrical system to handle an amp to power a 9512, those are all good choices.

I say get a MTX 92001 for 450-500 Shipped
mines births 2400@2ohm and 3557 @ 1ohm

my 9515G loves it
yeah i tried out the old mtx 1500 about 2 years back and i didnt really like them. I made up my mind not to go with mtx again. I dont know about this new series. Maybe the vfl 200.1 is looking like a good choice right now. i was going to go with the 500.1 but its too much power if im just running one 12" and too much stress on my electrical.

This amp puts out 1000x2@2ohms or 2000X1@4ohm wich is the impeadeance for one sub. Its a class A/B amp.
The 2000x I had bench tested @ over 3kw @ 2 ohms mono.

Ran it like that for almost 2 years with no problems before I traded it.

Haven't tried the Sundown amp myself, but hear nothing but good things about them. Or you could scoop up a IA 40.1 and run it at moderate gain until the bug hits you to use both woofers. Then you can let the 40.1 run full tilt on the pair.

It will happen within a month after playing with the single woofer. I kinda wish I could find another pair of yellow coned 9915's now.

I think im just gonna keep the 2000X and run one sub like i had planned. I dont want to use both subs because im trying to keep the weight and size of the enclosure down to a minimum. Ill try it out and see if the electrical can take it on this car.
