I'm putting 3 alpine r-12's in my Wrangler (2 down fire, one visible) and need to know what a good amp to push them would be. could someone give me some insight? I have one pre-amp left on my deck, dont know if that helps. Would I be able to run a mono and a 2 channel?

Someone please help out a car audio noob... Thanks,

-Tyler

It wont work... the Type R's are dual 4ohm VC's. You wont be able to wire it correctly to any amp.

My calculations come out to 2.67ohms...

it would be like $540 or so for 3 JBL600.1's

it might be pricey, but leaves you ALOT of room for upgrade in the future. the type R's are 300RMS, but if you decided to upgrade let's say....3 RE SE12's (600W RMS) the JBL600.1's could handle these very well.

pls do'nt buy 3 separate amps, just get somethin that is powerful @ 4 & 2ohms..... such as pg tantrum (the end) or even tsumni (mispelled)

i don't know a ton about alll the wiring specifics, but why not a Hifonics Brutus BX1500D. 1500x1 @1ohm, 1000x1@2ohm, and 750x1@4ohm. it also leaves you with ALOT of room if you decide to upgrade in the future.

You can buy 2 diff types of type r's.. I have 2 swr1221d's that are dvc 2 ohm. There is also a swrd1241d that is dvc 4ohm. I say figure out what amp u want and then look to see either to getthe swr1221d or the swr1241d.
