amp for 2 12" w6v1

Good subs!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

How much power is that amp putting out and at what ohm load?

If I remember correct (dual 6 ohm coils)., you can wire each at 3 ohm and then the pair to 1.5 ohm

So any 1 ohm stable amp in the 600-800 watts range should make justice to them.

Or you can get another one and wire the trio at 1 ohm to any 1,000 watt amp.......and that should be niiiiiiice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

Well here are the specs for the amp:

-179 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms

-305 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms

-612 watts RMS x 1 bridged output at 4 ohms

-Stereo or bridged mono output

-4-ohm stable in bridged mode

-Tri-way capable

-Requires 4-gauge power

-AMS Amplifier Management System

-Switchable subsonic filter

-Cooling fan

is this amp good enough w/ the crossover, or do you have any suggestions?

I'm assuming you are wiring the pair to a 6 ohm load, that said the amp should be pushing something in the 500 watts range and running cooler.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Those are nice speakers, they don't need a ton of power to sound good with decent loudness.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Depending on what you want, I say stay with what you have, it should be good.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

If you want it louder, port them, but they do get loud sealed, at least for me.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

If you are looking for a boom boom system, get something else.

remember guys these are v1's not v2's...they are content with much less power then the new ones...a jl500.1 would be plenty, but so is the amp you have......250-300rms a piece will treat them...

I'm looking at a JL 500/1, or a 1000/1. I want to get the 500/1 because it's cheaper, but would it push my subs to their full potential?
Yea, a 1000/1 would power it nice, but for the price there are much better choices.

When I said they are nice speakers I meant:

-sounds good with little power

-works on moderately sized enclosures

-sounds good with decent loudness

-quality construction

-should last you a while

I read your thread where you said you are running this speakers on a "bandpass enclosure" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

This is a good start point for you http://mobile.jlaudio.com/pdfs/8-12W6_BDS.pdf, follow those instructions and you should be good.
