Amp for 15" SE?

what amp would you suggest for a single 15" SE? I was thinking of going with either the bx1000d or bx1500d wired at 2 ohms because you can get them cheap on Ikesound. Which will power the SE better? Are there any other good amps for the SE under $250?

I kind of want to get something that is new. Will the SE's work as far as Ohms with the HiFonics amps? I've read that they are somewhat udnerated thats why I am asking. On Ikesound it sas the BX1500D does 1000x1@ 2 ohms and the BX1000D does 500x1@ 2 ohms. I've also read that it's reasonable to give the SE 800 watts. Since I'll be putting it in a ported enclosure will I be able to power it to its fullest with the BX1000D or should I go with the BX1500D because they dont put out as much power as they say?

alright well

1) will the bx1000d or bx1500d work with a 15" SE wiring it to 2 ohms?

2) which would be better for the SE wired at 2 ohms, the bx1000d or bx1500d (it will be in a ported box)

According to the Hifonics site the BX1000d does 700watts at 2 ohms. The actual imp. of those drivers wired in parallel is 1.4 ohms not really 2 ohms. The on the RE site it says that the VCoils are RE 2.8 with the 4 just being more of an estimate. Guys correct me if I'm wrong on this but the RE is the actual resistance where the dual 4 ohms is more of an estimate.

dude. just find a ~700w amp.

i have my 10" SE getting 800w with no problems in a ported box. i would go witht he larger of the two just incase you decided to upgrade. its not good to push an amp to its fullest 24\7. get the bx1500d amp and turn the gains down and wire it to 2 ohm for 1000w so it wont be pulling its maximum draw and wont clip\distort. it will be just over the RMS of that driver, and it will be nice and loud.

the resistances are never 'accurate' on any driver, as the music gets louder, the resistance changes- and vice versa. 4ohms or whatever they *say* the coils are, is just an average. so dont sweat man. i always like to overpower my sub with a little more than RMS so that i can turn the amp down to RMS so the sub is getting its RMS happily and the amp is producing less wattage than it was made for, and its happy too.

and remember, the amout of wattage a subwoofer can take PHYSICALLY and THERMALLY is dependant on the INSTALL (size\tuning of your box)... so these numbers are irrelavant anyway ! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

bx1500d or a different amp... cough*directed1100d*cough //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

on ikesound they have the directed 1100d but its "refurbished." What is your opinion on refurbs and what specifically does it mean?

it means that the factory took a working or non-working unit from a customer and now made it work....then they sell it to consumer B at the refurb price. Buying refurbs you may get either a unit that was never broken or one that was and is now fixed. Either way they still offer warranties.

I second Req's opinion above^^

well i think i will go with the bx1500d. is ikesound a good/secure website?

-edit

i have a few quick questions

1. the single 15" se (dual 4 ohm) and the bx1500d will work with eachother wired at 2ohms right? (just making sure)

2. if i decided to upgrade with another 15" se in the future could the subs be wired so they receive 750watts each from the bx1500d?
