Amp distortion

Right now i have 4 12" MTX jackammers pushed by a 2 CH MTX Thunder 942. My problem is when i wire the remote wire to the head unit itself, the subs sound horrible and fade in and out. Is this because of a lack of power? Do i need a bigger amp? Whenever i wire the remote wire to the power, the subs do not fade, why is this?

Sorry im fairly new to the car audio scene if you couldnt tell lol
