Well, i got my kenwood excellon 25th anniversary xxv-02a amplifier hooked up tonight, and it just goes into protection mode. It says 'condition 02' which means 'the amplifier has failed and is sending current directly to the speakers.'
Greeeeat.
Well, i bought the amp off of an unauthorized ebay retailer, so i'm not entitled to the warranty. I have two options: A. take the amp to the local authorized kenwood repair shop and have it fixed with money i don't really have right now or B. take my chances sending the unit back to the unauthorized dealer to have it replaced with a KAC-X541 or repaired (but i've heard of things going to indoaudio.com for repair and never returning)
So if you were me, would you take your chances with having the unit replaced with a KAC-X541 or take it to a local shop and have it repaired?
If the amps completely blown where it's sending that error message, how costly could it be to fix? i only spend $250 on the amp, shipped.
And is the KAC-X541 identical to the xxv-02a besides cosmetics? I really don't want to sacrifice quality for convenience. I was really looking forward to using the 02a, it seemed like a solid unit, and is cea2006 rated at 88w rms x 4, which is ideal for my speakers.
Anyone have any input, i'd really appreciate it. All i wanna do is get my stereo in my car, so i can stop worrying about it. I've had soooo many problems so far, it's really getting frustrating.
Again:
1.) Pay a local shop to fix it?
2.) Send to indoaudio for replacement with a KAC-X541
3.) Send to indoaudio to be fixed?
Thanks a lot!
