Amp cuts out...Why?

Ok guys heres a question...I have a Duel 50x4 watt head unit going into a 250x2 mag audio amp(dont laugh...I know its crap,but it was cheap)And that goes to 2 10" mtx road thunders.Sounds good,but when I crank the bass on the EQ,and turn up the volume,the amp cuts out,like its going into protect.The amp level is at maybe 1/3 output.The only time it does this is when its up loud(louder than I usually listen)so its not a big deal...But I was wondering if anyone could tell me why it does what it does.
