Amp cuts in and out at 1/2 volume. Help please!

I bought a 12" Kicker L7 with a zx750.1 today. The guy demod it for me and it sounde great.. Everything was fine fore like 3 songs. So I bought them. I get home install everything and when I turn it up to about 14 out of 35 it starts to cut in and out. My battery has died about a month ago and I believe it's stock. Should I start there? Could it be my ground? With the gain all the way down it works fine just plays low.. Help! The guy gave me 8 gauge for power and 4 for ground, as I didn't have any wire left over.

Amp settings are wrong or ground is bad.

its the battery tho. start with the big 3 then upgrade the battery with an agm from kinetik or XS
