i have a ap3000.1 and running at 2 ohm i turn the gain up maybe a 1/3 the way it works fine then i turn the gain to 1/2 and it cuts out on diffrent points and goes into protect then bounces right back into green.

my volts dont get any lower then 12.9

i am running 4 gauge to the amp for only a foot tell i get my 0 gauge, its fused to 250amps

whats going wrong

i did the big 3 yes engine ground and on the strut tower and left stock ground. also the gain on the amp is turned to 1/2 way? its not turned up a hell of a lot

It defiantly sounds like your sending a clipped signal.

set your gain using a DMM, "half way" means nothing.

Your amp's gain needs to match your headunit's preamp output voltage.

with a headunit that has 8v preamp outputs, your gain should be set to the absolute lowest setting.

if your headunit had 2v preamp outputs, your gain should be set a bit higher. but its impossible to tell how high unless you have a DMM.

your headunit puts out 2v (example) of a CLIPPED signal at 100% volume. which is why people typically only turn their headunit volume up to 3/4.

The 'gain' is not a volume knob. It needs to match the hu preamp voltage. Your sending your amp into protect because your sending it a clipped signal. Do you have bass-boosters / EQ settings set to the max?
