Amp blew, pics

Set up my amp and woofer tonight after having it sit in the garage for the last two years. I took it out two years ago because my wife was driving the car and she said it started smelling like burnt rubber. fast forward to day...

After having it plugged in for 5 min. there was a pop and the amp started to smoke and lost all bass. Here are some pics, you can see on the circuit board where there was a short and it melted it, right next to the big copper thing.

Any ideas what caused this, and is it repairable? If not, opinions on a new amp, ive been out of the game for several years now...

Where in WA are ya?

My first question is what happened to the fuse(s) either on side of the amp or inside....or in between??

Tacoma, no fuses blew. amp is MTX JH1200 btw

Oh your about 3 hrs from me lol

Having no fuses to me is a bad thing...to prevent things like that from happening.

Where was the gain at on the amp?

looks like its burnt by the 2 groups of 3 fets in the middle

its usually not worth repairing an amp that small it just depends.. not sure who repairs mtx amps

I used to have a ton of MTX amps. But they've taken a downfall and now mainstream. Won't run them again.

Could be a number of issues that caused that.

Maybe condensation built up Or just a resister or get just gave out. I'd just get a new amp

I have an rfl1200 for parts of your interested... You could fix it yourself... I had mine repaired once it cost me 75 contacted mtx directly in Phoenix az

It has three fuses on it and an inline fuse on the + cord. Oh well.

I've got a 12" Type R and an older AQ not the copper coil (now soundqubed, i guess) 15" when I want to melt my brain. Anyone remember what the RMS wattage is on both of these. I only run one at a time but I switch them up every now and then.

Was thinking about grabbing the new Q1 1200.2 amp from soundqube. These still decent for the money?
