Amp advice for Sundown SA-12

First-time poster, but I have been trying to do my due diligence by searching and reviewing relevant threads before asking for advice. I have decided to run a single SA-12 in my car (Audi A4). I haven't purchased it yet. Plan to buy the D2 (but can order the D4 if necessary to pair with the amp). I plan get a custom-made ported box but still need to make a decision on an amp and am looking for recommendations.

My budget is ~$200 (may be persuaded to go up to $300). I prefer to buy new, but am open to used if you point me to a really good deal on this site, ebay, etc. I'm (obviously) not looking for competition-level equipment, but I have leeway to spend to avoid marginal quality stuff. I'm more SPL than SQ (I have read--and I am sure you are all aware--that you can throw a lot more at Sundowns than what they are rated. I'm not exactly sure the extent to which that factors into the analysis, so I'll defer to you all.). I do not have any intentions of adding another sub in the future.

(I realize there are prior threads asking for advice on picking an amp to pair with an SA-12, but those are dated and/or do not include particular criteria listed above).

Thanks in advance your input!

@CSCStang can design you a box for that SA-12.

Any amp will do really. Look on ebay for deals....Kenwood, Pioneer, Kicker, your main mainstream brands. a little better quality with a lil more $$ will be Soundqubed 1000d or 1200d, Massive Audio, Skar, etc.

Check local CL and on here for some deals.

If you want affordable I'd go used or you could go with Rockville I've heard good things about them but they are power hungry

There's a twisted sounds 1.3kw that just popped up in the classifieds get that... None of the above listed brands are better and you'll have power on reserve so when that one woofer is no longer enough you can double up sa 12's and not need a new amp yet

If there's any local American Bass dealers near you then the HD1500 (800RMS) and HD2500 (1250RMS) are both good options and should be under 200 (if there's no local dealers then the user @mylows10 can ship you a new one with warranty).

$220 and $250 shipped

The american bass amps are alot higher than I thought they would be (there a ton cheaper online but those are from unauthorized dealers which I don't mind warranty but you might).

I would do either the twisted sound or the PPI 1000.1

The American Bass 26801d @1 ohm is a little monster and highly recommended, that @mylows10 ,Jim may have in stock..Its a little Beast..If it will beats the dogg snott out of a pair of XFL 10s on the daily in my neighbors truck

Those subs you mentioned are rated 750 rms.
So you want a amp that's rated 600-700 rms

If you want to match this is a good amp, SAE-600D
you want an amp thats rated more.

as theres a thing called box rise.

plus head room is a good thing.

but like has been said, any amp will power them.

just depends on funds.

but if you can, get an amp with more power then you need.
