American Bass VFL Hybrid 4480.1D Mini

I'm curious as well how this amp can possibly make 2k+ watts if its only fused at 120A? Being generous at 15V the absolute maximum rms wattage this amp could put out is 1800 watts. Thats even at 100% efficiency.
It uses a micro processor I believe. I havent clamped mine but have seen clamps and it puts out rated power. Stupid efficient too. Running mine at 1 ohm on a HDC 3 15 in my Civic with a pair of batts about 100ah total, stock alt, big 3 and I only dip into mid 12s. When I had my ppi bk 1800 id dip down into low 11s on bass heavy songs, and the vfl 4480 is louder to the ear.

Well I won't argue with a clamp test haha. Proper clamps as in Voltage*Current rather than the Voltage^2/Resistance method right? I suppose its possible that the vfl isn't fusing the entire input current but rather a portion of it.

When we did direct swap from ph4000 vs 4480.1 and The ph4000 sounded alittle louder and after acouple weeks the 4480.1 blew up and so we put the ph4000 back in and still running strong. Both amps run basically the same board inside from the looks of it but the ph4000 is alittle more beefier. This is my opinion from my experience.

Will you sell the ph4000 you have??

I've also tested both amps. The ph tended to get a bit hot where as the 4480 stayed cool. Also I posted higher in the termlab with the vfl I also ran the 4480 at .5 but the ph would protect after a bit
