amateur amp hookup question

Hey guys

I have a 2ohm JL audio 10w3v2. It is a single 10" sub.

I have a Phoenix Gold zx500, (1 or 2 channel) the specs on the amp are as follows:

2 x 75W @ 4 ohms (12V)

2 x 150W @ 4 ohms (13.8V)

2 x 300W @ 2 ohms (13.8V)

1 x 600W @ 4 ohms bridge (13.8V)

Now I am a total noob when it comes to install, can I just hook this thing up to the sub and go? I plan on using the outer + and outer - terminals on the amp (it says BRIDGE and has an arrow between the two

Is the sub a dual 2 ohm or a single 2 ohm?

I dont know if it is single or dual voice coil. I guess ill look at the box tomorrow

is there any way to test that, like with a volt meter??

Right now the sup is hooked up to an alpine MRP-M350 amp, 350w rms at 2 ohms, its pretty good for a work truck

I am thinking about going 2 JL10w3's off the bigger phoenix gold amp

Since its 600w rms, do you think i can hurt a single JL 10w3 with too much power?

That's more than 2x the rated power for that sub. You'll probably bottom it out before you smoke the coil, but either is bad. The real issue is that the amp will probably shut off from being wired to too low an impedance before either becomes an issue.

All the W3v2 subs were dual coil. What is the full model number?

If its wired to 2 currently, then its D4. Run it on one channel @ 2 ohms and you'll be golden.

If you get a second you can run it bridged, subs wired to 4 ohms, and still be golden.

That is colossally dumb advice. Why would you stress one channel rather than just running the coils in series and bridging the amp @ 8 ohms. Real power output of the amp would be greater @ 8 ohms bridged than @ 2 ohms on a single channel and the amp would run cooler.

If you get a second you can run it bridged, subs wired to 4 ohms, and still be golden.

And running the amp bridged @ 8homs would have everything already set up to do that.
