Am I the only one?

voltage drop is heafty lol.... waiting on my **** payday to come so i can grab those batcaps from ryan that i paid to hold. my amp is a power hog :| gains at 30vac and drop is 11.8 on a hard note but most my songs dont go below 12v..please explain some nice ways on test tones because i used a -6
With voltage drop your going to have some clipping issues no doubt... What type of woofer is it? Also what type of headunit...and how far up are you going on the volume? lol

mp538u is the h/u volume is 28/35 amp is an ap1500 subs are a bxi series 12d4 ill include specs because you cant find poo

600rms each.

kevlar cone

rubber surround

single spider

3'' coil

20 lb motor structure.

ive had these on 1600 rms each and seen 1.2k daily on them many times. (see link) H I F O N I C S

box is 1.5 cubes each(+- .1) at 40hz

Usually higher frequencies sound louder and meter louder...this could be why you think they are more musical because its louder. I KNOW most decaf songs have notes way below 40 hz...and if your playing full tilt on those notes its going to hurt your woofer at that tuning. Ive ruined alot of woofers this way lol
yep, those songs with my box tuning, which is 39-40,with this d6,i have smelled it with in 5-7 minutes.thats what it is,high tuning playing low songs

FAWK it can smell like the sub is on fire? lol. fine . ill make me a 10'' adapter for my slot . or build a new box. but i love my musical tuning. if someone could get me a -hz to -dbs chart or reference id love it. im only runnin low power so i could compinsate for some loss i guess.

maybe you are smelling the speaker wire coating where it connects to the subs terminals.i know when i took my d6 out to put it in another box,the plastic coating was melted a bit.yes,it got that hot and keeps on going.

Alrighty, I can GUARANTEE you that you never had 1600 rms or 1.2k daily on each of those woofers. Not a chance in hell would those take that kind of power.

Also, since your woofers are dual 4, you most likely have the wired at 1 ohm on your audiopipe 1500d, which is fine...but if your getting voltage drop down to 11.8 you have some clipping issues.

I still believe that playing below tuning is your #1 issue at the moment. If your wanting to play that kind of music your going to need to tune lower...if you want numbers your ether going to have to tune higher (or keep it the same and play different music) or get more cone area and power.

umm. that might be it. im running 12 gauge stinger from the amp to sub then like 14-16 on the subs :/ fuge.i sealed those subs for life. i dont want to redo that

so the 2 BB2400s i had them on were not 1600rms at 2 ohm? weird. Art ran his forever on 1.2k with no problems at all. Sic did a 147 with them before on a bxi160d running 15v electrical . moving on

might do the more cone area build not sure.

cash is tight and ive seen these take a beating. so i might try to find 2 more but i always see the 2.5'' coil model :/

umless 3 dcon 10s can take an ap1500 i cant do anything really. space is maxed out almost.

on the amp. i have it set to 900rms so i dont see how it could clip so awesomely bad it will stink

mine is 8 gauge.
i dont see the need for 8 gauge yet. this OFC streetwires 12 is pretty good but who knoiws...

i should probly add the 1600 rms on each was only a burping session to prove some numbers. the 1200 rms was arts monster

Thats not good at all...but I still don't think its your problem. Even 16 gauge wire at a 1 ohm load would be fine as long as its under 6-8 feet long.

meh its all OFC streetwires... the 12 gauge is 3 -4 feet roughly and the 16 (i guess it is) is 3 feet max

for the record, the only two songs that made my sub smell, cause i was pushing it a bit, were late night tip and on my level.i played late night tip with a bit of clipping and it took my breath ever so slightly.it was a little hard to breathe when i turned it off.you can believe that sh it

i believe it because i make it where no one can inhale a puff of cig in my car.

Considering your voltage is dropping to 11.8 with ONE ap15001d, yes there is no way in hell you had 1600rms on each of those subs. The amperage draw from those two amps is WAY higher than that single ap1500. You were probably seeing no more than 500rms with your voltage drop and impedance rise.

Also how did you set it to 900rms? I'm assuming you mean that you calculated the output voltage to coincidence with 900 watts...correct? If that is the case than you would have to also calculate in the starting voltage...which obviously drops low. That would mean these subs were now getting probably 500 or so watts a piece.

So if everything you say is true...the only thing that could be the problem is playing below tuning. Or your lying about one of these things...and or you set the gains/headunit wrong.
