when you start smelling strong electrical burning in your car that you pull over no matter where you are?

i did this yesterday on 29(google it ) started smelling coils really bad pulled over and the subs werent hot but i was so nervous i was shaking lol....

also ill add this in.. what the fuck can smeel like burning coil (i mean fire coil) and the subs still be cool? im not clipping (set gains with a -6db60hz tone to 900rms amp is ap1500) ive checked for clip and all. mostly happens on decaf within 5 minutes . other songs i love are katy perry- last friday night. i went through that whole song before i started to smell anything..... subs have taken 1600rms each for a burp at one point . box is tuned to 40 for daily. i just dont see what the hell it could be

A -6dB tone is a //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nono.gif.eca61d170185779e0921b0faa9704973.gif. Should never go below -3dB. I say this because a lot of songs I remix and a lot of decaf songs will go as loud as -3dB. I've also had subs get smelly before and the dustcap doesn't feel hot.

You should check your fan motor. keep the subs everything off but turn the fan motor on full blast see if you notice a smell. That happened to me about a month ago kept smelling like friend coil I had no idea what it was for about 2 days then the fan stoped working

Well 40hz is somewhat on the high side if you are wanting to play alot of music (especially decaf) my guess is that your playing below tuning and its heating up the glue joints...thats where the smell is coming from. Thats just my .02

but 40 hz is more musical IMO than any lower tuned box.plus i like having a 142 Daily. but ive never done the math on tuning lower making me lose x amount of decibles.

Usually higher frequencies sound louder and meter louder...this could be why you think they are more musical because its louder. I KNOW most decaf songs have notes way below 40 hz...and if your playing full tilt on those notes its going to hurt your woofer at that tuning. Ive ruined alot of woofers this way lol

its been rta proven more louder for sq cars //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif. but im mainly concerned because the coils are still sparkly as hell with no brown on them lol

Also like I said that is just my opinion on what the problem is, but there are a few different things that could possible be the problem.

Playing below tuning, Clipping (Amp and or headunit), voltage drop....etc.

Playing below tuning wont affect the coil, playing below tuning will cause the woofer's glue joints to heat up quicker...its almost the same smell IMO

voltage drop is heafty lol.... waiting on my **** payday to come so i can grab those batcaps from ryan that i paid to hold. my amp is a power hog :| gains at 30vac and drop is 11.8 on a hard note but most my songs dont go below 12v..please explain some nice ways on test tones because i used a -6
