Am I missing something??

Here's the deal, I am installing 2 identical systems in 2 1999 Firebirds. They both have aftermarket HU's and the power wire, remote wire, and ground wires are all run exactly the same in both cars. One sytem works and the other doesn't. One of the amps will not power up. I have take teh volt meter and checked all the leads and everything came out fine on them. I switched amps out and they both work in one car but neither work in the other. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif What could I be missing or do I need to look for??

check power wire at.. the batt term. before the fuse. after the fuse. and at the amp.

check ground wire.

check remote wire. at the h/u. somewhere on the way back. and at the amp..

if this fails check the amp!!!!!!

this reminds me of when i spent about 1-2 hours trouble shooting a sub.. turns out it was bad from the factory!! and it was a MB Quart!!!

Thanks for the quick replies, I have checked all fuses and leads at every possible connection as well as tested both amps. They are both grounded in the same spot also. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif Oh wells, I will try grounding it elsewhere and see what happens.

One amp is toast and the other isnt?
That's what I thought originally, however, I tested both in the other car and it worked fine. I had never run into this before, even though both cars are wired identically same products in each all around. Not my choice of equipment (Visonik and Power Acoustik) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif but it's what they wanted, go figure.

i wonder if that made any sense at all
Long story short, same stuff, installed identically in 2 identical cars, in car A everything works, in car B the amp will not power up. The amp that would not power up in car B will power up in car A.

well obviously its not the amp, so check your wiring, front to back, that has to be what it is. either your power, ground, or remote wire. or a combination of both. thats what it is though... go check it and let us know

well it can only be three things: Power wire, ground wire, or remote lead... once of them isn't doing it's job in car B...

In Car B, take the remote off the amp, and just put a small piece of wire between the positive connection and the remote. If the amp turns on, your remote turn is a likely culprit.

Is the HU remote on the remote, and not the power antenna? I know you said they are ran exactly, but it never hurts to check more.

What remote wire are you using? The kind that run with RCA's, came with an amp kit, seperate wire just laying around?

I used the kind that run with RCA's, no voltage, or little, on the line. My amps didn't see enough power to run. I ran some different*better* remote, and problem solved.
